F- Robinson (LC)
F- Suiter(Valpo)
C- Smoot or Seay?

Best Team: Merrillville

govalpo, what is your take on the Vikings this season? We know about Suiter, Butterfield, and Clymer; are their other names that might step up? I still would rank them top 3 in the DAC.

A correction, it is KeMonte Price.

My take on Valpo is yes we do have 3 starters back and I also believe will be definitely a top 3 contender in the DAC. I am also hearing good things about Dan Hummel supposedly he has grown some more and improved dramatically since last season that would be a huge bonus for Valpo. Here are my projected starters:

C- Dan Hummel 6'6 (maybe taller now can score inside and out)
F- Jerrick Suiter 6'3 (all conference this season)
F- Adam Butterfield 6'3 (expecting big things from him scored nearly 200pts last season)
G- Jon Clymer 6'2 (scored about 150 last season should have a nice senior year)
G- Brent Hill 5'9 (should handle point guard position played a lot last season)

And.....whomever it was that said McGary should be all-conference instead of Suiter that would not be accurate because McGary is leaving the state for a prep school because of his grades. He could have gotten straight A's this year and still not made it D-1

I would think Butterfiled would be the go-to guy when Valpo needs a big bastket. Clymer can get hot and drop 3,4, or 5 3's on a team. Hummel will get his chance it looks like. Everytime I saw Valpo last season he did not get much varsity minutes but looks like that will change. Suiter plays much bigger then 6'3". They will have some JV players fill in some role spots and I am sure their are some shooters Otis can find on the bench to call upon. Definitley a top 3 in the DAC.

Where do you have City? I know they have Edwards, Clay, and Knight back. They lost McCormick as everyone knows. I am thinking the middle of the DAC unless Boyd gets some transfers in that have not been seen yet.

govalpo, almost everything I read that you post makes me wonder if you are joking, uninformed, or just plan crazy. If you don't think McGary has a chance of playing D1 basketball then you know nothing of basketball! I guarantee there will be a D1 school that will offer him a scholarship. There are just not that many 6'11" players out there who can dribble, shot from the outside and block shots like he can. Now does he play stupid at times, soft and can be moody absolutely but believe me there will be a D1 school that will take him, I promise. Matter of fact if you don't believe ask a grad from Valpo, Bryce Drew, if they would take him? Also if you believe in your heart and not just drinking Green Kool-Aid that Suiter is a D1 basketball player you are totally fooling your self. He is a very good athlete, competitive, and hard nosed but has limitations has a basketball player. He is a 6'3" post player he can not be a 6'3" post player at that level. If you don't believe me ask Zack Novak how difficult it is to play inside at that level and Suiter is no Novak. From everything I have seen and heard he would be a D1 football player without question. He is a very good high school athlete, in all sports, it is extremely difficult to be D1 caliber in 3 sports. The last person I heard of doing that was your own Tim Bishop. He was the best all-around high school athlete I have ever seen.

Dude.......all I said was BECAUSE OF HIS GRADES HE WOULD NOT HAVE MADE D-1 next year that is ALL ......relax and learn to read. Also, I have not said anywhere that Suiter is a D-1 player for BASKETBALL yes in baseball undoubtedly he is but NOT basketball. McGary will 100% be a D-1 basketball player simply with how tall he is and the potential he has. No Green Kool-Aid here buddy but maybe you need some new glasses.

'DUDE", I asked 8 different individuals from differnet schools not just CHS. The intersesting thing was that NOT ONE of the interrupted what you orginially wrote to what your response said. They ALL felt you were saying that he would not be a D1 player, period! I guess if I need to learn how to read maybe you need to learn how to WRITE more clearly! Thanks for explaining.

Let's see "he could have gotten straight A's this year and still not made it D1" that is interrupted the only reason he could not make it becasue of grades? Then I guess oh hoopfan22 you have much more insight then 2 basketball coaches, 4 teachers, a principal, lawyer and a business owner. I really am sorry govalpo that I along we these others misunderstood what you were saying. Next time I will ask hoopfan22 to clarify what you are writing so there is no misunderstanding. Please forgive me for commenting and questioning anything you said, sorry.

The fact that you keep typing interrupted keeps me from replying to you seriously.

but i'll try.

You need good(or at least decent) grades to receive a D1 scholarship. He could have gotten straight a's this year and still not made it. If you need clarity next time just hit me up.

Here is the quote from McGary himself which goes along the same lines I was saying this is from the Times, "I could've gotten straight A's my senior year and I still would have to go to a junior college. I'm disappointed I have to leave, but it's got to be done if I want to play Division I college basketball

My saying he is going to prep school because of his grades he could have gotten straight A's and still not played D-1 is all attributed to his academic issues that's all no worries it's all good.
