My Favorite 10 to watch in high school...no order

Glenn Robinson-Roosevelt- Hands down the best player from the area i've seen in HS.
Byron Wilson-L.Wallace
Carson Cunningham-Andrean
Tony Harris-E.C. Roosevelt
Jerome Harmon-L. Wallace
Kenny Lofton-E.C. Washington
Carlton Baker- EC
E'Twaun Moore- EC
Tim McCallister- Gary West
Shane Power- Andrean

This may not be the best 10 but they're my favorites.

Locally speaking and in no particular order, and I only remember from the early 1980's on.....

Glenn Robinson, 'Velt
Bryce Drew, VHS
Carson Cunningham, Andrean
Jerome Harmon, Wallace
E'Twaun Moore, EC Central
Tony Harris, EC Roosevelt
Joey Wright, Gavit
Teyon McCoy - Bishop Noll
Shane Power, Andrean
Charles Macon, MC Elston

I didn't see guys like Roger Harden, Dan Palombizio, Delray Brooks play.

Bootsy White
Quinn Buckner (IU Nat'l Champs)
Drake Morris (Purdue multi yr starter)
Thad Gardner (Michigan captain)
Tim Stoddard (NC State Nat'l Champs)
Bryce (NBA)
Dan Dakich (IU)
Luke Harangody (ND)
20 players tied for 10th

Vikes you have good picks, but you needed to include college player of the year and NBA #1 pick in the whole draft Glenn Robinson. My top 5 players I have seen on the local level would be in this order, #5 Renaldo Thomas #4 Kenny Lofton #3 Tony Harris #2 Jerome Harmon and lastly #1 without question Glenn(Big Dog) Robinson.

Some great picks there, but if you go that far back, what about Jim Bradley, ECR. Many say he is the best to ever come out of East Chicago. And does Quinn Buckner count since he is from Thornridge?

Great call ND on Winston Garland. Funny thing about Garland is that when he played for the Velt he wasn't considered the best player on the team at the time. Also another player from Gary that played in the NBA was Wallace Bryant. The Lew Wallace grad in probably the late seventies or early eighties was a servicable player in the NBA playing with the Bulls among others for a few years.

Rusty, Dont forget the McCoy boys from the Institute. didn't teyon go to Maryland?

I love it every year during the tournament we get to see Pistol miss the tip shot, and Captain Sky all curled up on the floor after Phi Slama Jamma lost. Brings back some great memories.

Buckner isn't from the Region so he can't count.

Danny Stevens -- anyone remember him from Lake Station? I think he played at Loyla in college...
